People on the inside are hoping now that the station is running in the red, someone at the university will notice and finally hold the GM accountable. In the meantime, its talent keeps leaving. What a shame.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-80146841051443612012007-05-07T16:09:00.000-04:002007-05-07T16:09:00.000-04:00To the anon at 4:02 save your liberal ranting for ...To the anon at 4:02 save your liberal ranting for Air America would ya?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-7096008152297860852007-05-07T16:02:00.000-04:002007-05-07T16:02:00.000-04:00Is this the same Rita Andolsen who, while working ...Is this the same Rita Andolsen who, while working as a Producer at Fox-8 made an impassioned plea to her co-workers against unionizing? How on earth can anyone be expected to pay such an exorbitant fee? I'm not one of those people who thinks music should be entirely free... artists are entitled to make money on their creations I believe. But why do they need to extract so much from people who are in many senses helping them? Things like internet, satellite, and terrestrial radio help people discover new music and artists and encourage those same people to maybe buy an album or attend a concert.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-25665803219680279122007-05-07T11:52:00.000-04:002007-05-07T11:52:00.000-04:00Your "relevant" question is a good one. Much is been made about people leaving CPN, but rarely is it mentioned that a similar exodus has been taking place at WKSU, especially in the last year. For many years, they were a very stable station w/ regard to personnel.

In the case of CPN, the waters are a bit more murky. Pign and Jablonski's departures were lateral, which raise questions. Babin left for a better job. Baer for new surroundings. Losses of Newman and Ruiz...who knows, or really cares. Not great talents.

KSU-I'd guess Duffy (w/ no facts to back me) for the $. Jablonski, better job. Hadn't heard Pig was leaving. That would be a shocker.

with Mark, i think he saw a rare opening at Kent and grabbed it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-62370472152513222362007-05-07T11:40:00.000-04:002007-05-07T11:40:00.000-04:00I think the more relevant question is why is so mu...I think the more relevant question is why is so much talent leaving WKSU--Jablonski, Duffy and soon, Pignanelli? Ten years ago, Duffy was named news director, beating Uryicki out for that job. 2 years ago, Duffy was named program director, again beating Uryicki out of a job. It's like Uryicki was just lying in wait for Duffy to leave this market so he could finally get a promotion?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-87808775897386103732007-05-07T11:22:00.000-04:002007-05-07T11:22:00.000-04:00I don't think u can make the leap that because Ury...I don't think u can make the leap that because Urycki left after a year at WCPN to return to KSU, that things are bad at 90.3. He is leaving to take over as a program director. Big jump in $ and a chance to move up the ladder are probably the main factors for his departure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13975530.post-32467313292099294242007-05-07T11:10:00.000-04:002007-05-07T11:10:00.000-04:00Good luck to Mark Urycki. Vincent Duffy did a fantastic job (both on radio and TV) and will be missed by all of Northeast Ohio, but Urycki's return is good news and he should do well. Didn't he just go to WCPN about a year ago? Are things there still so bad that people bolt for WKSU at their first opportunity?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
