Not A Dare Anymore

The co-host and "stunt guy" on a local radio morning show was sent to the hospital after one of his stunts unraveled.

Dominic Dieter, known simply by his last name on WKRI/92.3 "K-Rock"'s "Rover's Morning Glory", won't be doing his "Dare Dieter" stunts anymore. At least for a while.

WEWS/5 "NewsChannel 5" reports
that Dieter's stunt this morning - rolling down a hill while in a barrel - ended up hurting Mr. Dieter.

Host Shane "Rover" French told listeners and reporters that the lid came off the barrel while it was rolling down the 80-foot plus hill with his co-host inside. At that point, French said Dieter's head and shoulders came out of the open barrel, and Dieter "flopped around" (French's word).

Dieter was taken to a Cleveland hospital, where at last check, he was being checked in the emergency room. He'd complained of not being able to feel his feet after the barrel stopped rolling.

French told WEWS and other stations that the "Dare Dieter" segment is history.

Ummm...we're not sure we'd bet on that. And this is not Mr. Dieter's first turn at getting hurt doing his stunts...

As a somewhat vocal critic of things like that, I think it's a shame for someone to risk his neck, for the sake of ratings. I would hate for anyone to be permanantly disabled for a radio stunt and wish Dieter the best.

I also hope no one loses their job over one unfortunate incident. I also hope it's not played up for ratings sake.

I went to high school with this guy... he did this kind of thing for free back then. :)

I really hope he's okay.

Ah yes, because there's nothing better than a visual sight gag on the radio...

"Dare Deiter" should have been history before it even started.

Maybe we'll see Deiter as Sharon Reed's new co-anchor if they give her the 11pm news. Sharon showing her boobs and Deiter acting like a boob!

Ah, but seriously, I hope he's OK, maybe next time he'll think twice about rolling down a hill in a garbage can ON THE RADIO!

Sounds like another lame publicity stunt.

I second what Mr. Common Sense said.

Exactly what they deserve.

Wham with the right hand! He got what he deserved!!!!! THE END OF ROVER IS NEAR!!!! REJOICE, CLEVELAND!!!!!!!!!!! SHANE FRENCH & COMPANY AND CBS RADIO SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND BROUGHT UP ON ASSAULT CHARGES!!!!

You can't file assault charges if someone willingly does something stupid on their own. That includes working for CC or CBS Radio.

Do you have no talent and want to be on the radio? You can roll down a hill in a barell! What a fool.

I don't get the station where I live, but no matter. Is this Dieter the dumbest radio employee since the WMMS dude who was persuaded to cut Howard Stern's cable?

CBS Radio, with some of the things going on at 92.3 you would almost think it was Raycom Radio!
