Triv's "Big Announcement"

There's been a lot of scuttlebutt and message board chatter about a "big announcement" supposedly coming out of WTAM/1100 Cleveland afternoon drive motormouth Mike Trivisonno. (Check your Ohio laws about the need to describe him as such. We're sure it's in there somewhere!)

And OMW has done some digging. It turns out that the Triv show "announcement" is not likely to be about any lineup change, overnight rebroadcast or anything of the sort, though we do understand that Triv's planning an all-night marathon broadcast for charity again this year.

No, it appears the show likes a new voice that's been on the air for a while now. An intern known as Alison (we don't have a last name) slid into the role of, well, female foil for the male-dominated talk show. That role, ranging from reading sponsor billboards to bickering with Triv, was filled by Kim Mihalik until budget cuts struck last year.

OMW hears that "Alison" will become a regular part of the Triv show. We assume that means she'll actually transition from being an intern on the show. But even if they are paying her something, it's probably at a much lower rate than they paid Ms. Mihalik...

Alison. She needs to concentrate and practice her e-nun-ci-a-tion. She garbles everything together like...well, a Cleveland valley girl.

Also, if she's getting a regular paid gig, she's no longer getting college credit--unless the colleges nowadays have some freaky intership program I wish they had when I was in.

Ahhh yes...! Only in the sad state of affairs of today's radio can an intern land a primo position on a 50,000 watt heritage radio station. I wonder...will CC have to start paying her with actual money or Mr. Chicken coupons?

She's a freakin SIDEKICK, how much experience does she need???? Get a grip, people.

Allison is there to appear on promo posters and to be a vaccuous foil for Triv's women bashing jokes and for when he's sick of picking on the ultimate toady Paul Rado, bouncing bad repartee off a very un-interested Pat Butler, bantering back and forth with Schwab or the so-uptight-it's-funny Mike Snyder, or pretending that he's black like Marty Allen. In other words, Allison is a token hot airhead girl on a "Boys Rule, Girls Drool" sports show. In short, a brilliant move for a show aimed directly at 40-something year old guys driving home to their nagging wives.

I'm very disappointed in this. At least Kim had some talent and didn't just respond with giggling and unintelligible comments.

I'd pay $10 to see Kim's expression when it happened. At least Allison is younger. When it was a bunch of old guys and then an "older" Kim, they'd have no clue about anything that came out after 1990.
