BREAKING NEWS: Paul Kiska Named Anchor Of "Good Morning Cleveland"

In our "They Took THIS Long To Replace Adam Shapiro?" department:

OMW hears that it's official this morning...Cleveland ABC affiliate WEWS/5 has named reporter Paul Kiska as permanent anchor on the station's morning show, "Good Morning Cleveland".

And it's actually a homecoming for Kiska. We're reminded that Kiska joined WEWS some seven years ago from South Bend IN, as a reporter for the very same show...

Good for Paul.

He deserves it, and has proven himself as an anchor. He'll fit in well.

Now Channel 5 can finally have stability. Hopefully, Lorna Barrett will join him as well.

Why did he leave the first time?

Or, should I ask, "Who stole the Kiska"

I guess this means that Suzanne is no longer the Queen Bee in the morning like she thought she was.

Queen bee...you mean Man Hands? Poor thing is back to doing weather again. I like when Kiska gets mad at himself when he messes up reading copy off the prompter.

WEWS needs to fix their picture. The in studio cameras look great but their live shots are very grainy. One tonight looked like it was an upconverted analog picture on the HD channel and I think they still use some 4:3 cameras. Also, they need to stop stretching 4:3 video during the news and always use the sidebars for 4:3 video. Stretched picture looks horrible.

Man hands? That is not nice. However I think Trisha should have an expanded role on GMC. Give her the co-anchor spot and let Lorna Barnett do the traffic.

Lorna is fine as co-anchor, you forget she spent over 10 years working with Ted Henry at 6 and/or 11.

And why is it that TV5 always splits the 6 and 11 shift, Ted will work with one lady at 6 and another at 11.

For many years it was Lorna at 6 and Wilma Smith at 11, then Lee Jordan replaced Wilma, and after a couple of years with Ted/Lee at 6 and 11, we have Danita Harris at 6 and Lee at 11.

I never understood why 5 does that...just to be different maybe, or is Tall Ted a chick magnet?

Lorna Barrett is not fine as a co anchor she sounds like she has a mouth full of potatoes all the time. I miss Danita Harris in the morning she was cheerful and always spoke clearly

Lorna is a very nice, capable person, but I agree with anonymous 6:15. Also, Lorna still drags her voice at the end of a sentence (like Jo cool announcerrrrrrrrr). She often sounds stiff.

As for rotating the anchors, they did some of that with Sissy Schaeffer, as well.

I've never understood it, but, since I'm not in charge at WEWS, I certainly don't have to understand.

Oh, yes...Stephanie Schaffer.

She who made $250K per year to work between 3 and 6pm.

You pay someone that kind of jack to do 6 and 11, not the 5pm only.

By thew way Sissy, How's that new iVillage show that is on in like 5 markets working out for you?

Typical of WEWS to throw all kinds of money at the anchors. When Lorna had a baby in 1999, she went to part-time anchoring (just one newscast per weekday). They raised her salary from $120k to $160k, then cutback on the assignment desk staffing.

Then Scripps announced that it would invest $3Billion in its internet projects.

Cleveland always brings back has beens on the air all the time. Robin Swoboda is on her 10th retirement and come back. (It has been about 4 months for her new show now she is due for either the usual I want to spend more time with my family or the ratings stink) I would like to meet the genius that decided to put Robin Swoboda as the host of Morning Exchange and replace Fred Griffith. Boy that went well? That brilliant move cancelled a great show.

I don't know who made that decision, but the EP in the morning at that time was a former Hollywood game show producer who refused to arrive sooner than 9:30AM.

Still does not account for the fact that they replaced an excellent host in Fred Griffith with a below average fluff chic in Robin Swoboda.

iVillage Live is working out quite well for Sissy...to the bitter Anon poster who asked.

She and her husband have purchased an $800k house and they're living in beautiful sunny Florida very happily with their two beautiful children and are away from craptacular Cleveland, Ohio.

She's extremely happy with her decision.

Now, please compare your pitiful existence to hers and tell us ALL how it's working out for YOU???????

HA.
