Late Saturday Check-In

Three things:

Thing 1: We happened to catch a brief liner during WTAM/1100 programming this afternoon... something to the effect of - "Triv Quits! Details Monday at 8:15..." - or close to that, at any rate.

No, we're pretty sure afternoon motormouth Mike Trivisonno is not leaving his perch at WTAM. We're guessing he's quitting something other than the radio business. Perhaps he'll stop eating while broadcasting? Now, THAT would be an effort! Heh. Anyway, we're not hearing anything from the usual rumor mill sources, so we're doubting this is anything but an ear-grabbing promo liner...

Thing 2: We're pretty sure that CBS Radio morning man David Lee Roth's on-air struggles are not a "News Flash", but that's what happens when websites like Cleveland.com automatically put up wire stories...

Anyway, the latest version of this Associated Press story notes that Roth received "four letters in five days" from his CBS Radio employers, demanding "major changes" in the show. Some of those, we heard on Friday...with sidekicks pushed to the curb, and the show's signature long music beds going away...

Thing 3: If you're a fan of CBS' "The Amazing Race" like we are, you should probably welcome the show's move out of what's become a death time slot for it, Tuesday nights at 10 PM ET/PT. Starting this coming week, TAR9 will be seen Wednesdays at 8 PM ET/PT (WOIO/19 Cleveland, WKBN/27 Youngstown, and other Ohio affiliates), a much better time slot for a show that picks up a wide variety of demographics.

We're still not sure if it shouldn't have been moved back to its original slot (Tuesdays at 9), but "The Unit's" success after "NCIS" means that'd be impossible...

Re: Thing 1. Ummmm...why not use your brain a second. Today is April 1st. April Fools Day. I'm sure the Triv thing is just an April Fools Joke. He's pulled them before, like when he said he was gonna move to mornings and go up against Howard Stern.

Well, duh. Of course!

:D

The timing just seemed odd, if they do intend on doing anything Monday... since April Fool's Day fell on Saturday this year.

They may not even bother with anything on Monday. If they do, what are they gonna say, "Haha! Gotcha! It's...uhh... Saturday was April Fool's Day"? ;)

I missed the Triv deal. I tuned in yesterday for about 10 minutes and heard him whine and moan about radio execs. Didn't know if it was related. What happened?
