It's not just a sports moment, but it's a bit of local TV history...the first-ever live high-definition event broadcast (non-news) by a Cleveland market TV station.
And here are a couple of screen shots from today's Indians/Twins game via WKYC/3, broadcast on WKYC-DT in HDTV. Click on the pictures to enlarge them...
The game is being televised under the SportsTime Ohio banner. It's a bit of semantics, of course, because WKYC is the production partner for both broadcast and STO cable/satellite games.
The first picture doesn't have the full score bar up at the top because it was the very first pitch, and the score bar was in the process of being put up...

When you say that it was the first live broadcast in HD, does that mean that WKYC hasn't broadcast their live news in HD yet? Or, is this the first live event that's been broadcast in HD in Cleveland?
Thanks for the heads up...we clarified the entry. Of course, WJW FOX 8 has been doing local HD newscasts for a while now...

Talking Tribe, it was good to hear Casey Coleman talking to Underwood and Hammy. He was thankful for all his support, and in good humor this afternoon. Watching the game right now, I just witnessed hafner's home run and I like the home run graphic.
It's official...Jim Donovan is the worst play-by-play man in major league baseball history.
I've met Donovan a couple times - thought he was a really nice guy. It's nothing personal, but he's just awful as a baseball PBP man.
