BREAKING NEWS: Rover Loses St. Louis

It's not quite in the "major" breaking news category, but since we're here anyway, getting ready for our "official" return on Monday...

CBS alt-rock/talk WXRK/92.3 "K-Rock" morning host Shane "Rover" French has just lost another affiliate.

Emmis St. Louis alt-rocker KPNT/105.7 "The Point" dumped Cleveland-based "Rover's Morning Glory" after this morning's airing, just a couple of hours or so ago.

OMW hears that the station proclaimed that "Rover is Over" just minutes after the end of the show at 10 AM St. Louis time, and played supposed listener calls with such choice comments as "shoot the dog!".

"The Point" has already put up the web page for Rover's replacement, something called "The "Fandango Experiment"...hosted by former KPNT air personality Donnie Fandango returning to the station for morning drive:

MOVE OVER, ROVER - FOR THE FANDANGO EXPERIMENT

Effective immediately, Rover's Morning Glory is history on The Point.

Because you demanded it, we're introducing an all new Point morning show, with a helluva lot less talk, and a ton more music.

The new local show starts Monday.

"Rover's Morning Glory" was on the St. Louis station as its replacement for former morning man Howard Stern. But the Emmis-owned outlet was the only non-CBS Radio station making that move...

HA HA HA HA HA HA....hopefully soon he loses Cleveland. Seriously, his show is terrible, I can't even listen to it more than 10 seconds. There's not a single morning show on in Cleveland I can even tolerate anymore.

DARE DEITER sounds EXACTLY THE SAME EVERY FRIDAY.

I SWEAR I thought today's show was a "best-of" show. It wasn't.

So he's down to just Memphis and Rochester now. Ouch.

Is it any surprise that Rover is a huge failure?

Don't forget about the morning disaster on WNCX. How do they keep their jobs? Mud, Moron, and Mook is the worst show in the history of Cleveland morning radio. I never thought a show could be worse then David Lee Roth.

Bob And Tom are no picnic either, with their fake laugh tracks. Rover sucks.

What a joke mornig radio has become.

Speaking of WNCX, anyone ever hear that Mr. Classic guy? He has got to be the worst DJ ever. He has been there forever and still sounds no better than his first day.

Michael Stanley sounds bored to tears and the night girl, Paula something, sounds like she would rather be cleaning her bathroom. What a lame and boring lineup.

Rover is still #1 18-34 persons in AM Drive in Cleveland.

The Rover show has gotten stale. Dare Dieter has gotten lame and predictable. The Hook-Up is the same thing every week. News stories are recycled off the Internet. And the cast's opinions on things in general are ridiculous and over-the-top.

It's his own fault that the show has gotten terrible. He puts no effort into it...just look at his website that sits idle all of the time.

Somehow I believe that Kim Mihalik will become the Robin Swoboda of radio. She will keep getting fired and keep showing up everywhere else. I have to say that Trivisonno's show sounds so much better now.

Tom, Dom if you happen to read this message please drop Rover from cleveland and move Opie and Anthony to mornings and play music the rest of the day.

Rover being #1 18-34 is a joke. His show is the only one that caters to that audience. So of course his show is gonna be #1. He'd get his ass kicked by O&A, and even maxwell if they ever went head to head with him.

Slight Correction: KPNT wasn't the only non CBS station carrying Rover. Nassau Broadcasting's WPXC in Cape Cod, MA also switched from Stern to Rover.

The station dropped Rover in May, once CBS made Opie and Anthony available to outside syndication.

The point has been made before, but Rover has blown a golden opportunity by refusing to invest in a producer to help mold and steer the show..

Rover sufferes to some degree from the same things that hamstrung Stern in his final CBS days..once Rover lost the ability to do ''Ask a Porn Star'', along with the more sexually oriented features of the show at its best, they tried to change things up with ''Dare Deiter'' to hold the young male component of the audience in check..

There is no reason why, with all the acts that pass through Cleveland on a regular basis, that Rover can't get some of these folks to drop by the studio to play live, or if nothing else, to interact with the cast..

And how many times are we going to have to hear ''War on the Shore' and the Courtney Love interview during ''Best of'' segments..that stuff is getting on two and three years old..and it gets trotted out everytime they go on vacation..

Everybody is talking about how far Mancow has fallen, but look at this clown! Couldn't happen to a better guy, though. What a jerk.
By this time next year, the only dare Deiter will be doing is delivering pizzas on the south side of Cleveland while Rover drives the delivery car.

The show went down hill when Lunchbox left.

Hey bring back WLYT to 92.3 in Cleveland

Anonymous said...

The current format 92.3 has is good. They just have too much talking. They need to drop one of the talk shows(ROVER) and move the other talk show to mornings(O&A) and play music the other 21 hours of the day.

Everyone, you can talk more about morning radio at www.morningshowcentral.com. Definitely worth checking out what other folks think about Rover and the crew.

Actually, both Valentine on WAKS and Russ Parr on WENZ target persons 18-34 and are #2 and #3 behind Rover respectively; neither however, are LOCAL. Not to mention, they never garnered the local buzz Rover did. (The lame cat-flying-in-the-ballon stunt is what put him on the map)

Outside of Stern really, Cleveland has always liked it's morning shows live and local.

How sad. His 15 minutes of fame is almost up. Soon he'll be working a graveyard shift at some station in the middle of nowhere...providing he can find a station that doesn't have the overnight shift on auto-pilot.

This sucks, I actually liked Rovers morning glory, but now I am stuck with this stupid Fan-Gay-Go dude that sounds like a bigger retard than dieter.

Anonymous said...

Bring Rover back to the point,Bob and Tom suck, Danny Fan-Dork-O sucks, and the music has taken a sudden left turn for the worse, mostly because of these nerds...bottem line...bring Rover back-Jack.

Rover is awesome. You all are clowns...who wants to listen to stupid music on the way to work...If want that then put in a cd...idiots.

"Mr. Classic"- I heard the loser last night.Between songs he went on a rant against Al Gore and anyone who thinks there is global warming,he called it a "religion".

I've got to wonder if he's paid off by some group to spout this tired old Limbaughistic horseshit between songs from their strict 200-song playlist?

I need to see a photo of this clownact.I'm guessing I'll see a bloated,grey-bearded(to "hide" his chins),ruined-faced 60-year- old-and-headed-for-massive-heart- attack slob.

Found photos of "Mr. Classic" (or "Mr. Fatsick"?).How many freebies does Mr. Fatsick hit the grocery store manager up for before he leaves the lame-o promotion?Uh,LOSER!
