Shout Out to Alabama

OMW would like to give a hearty "hello" to certain executives from Montgomery, Alabama...who are rumored to be camping out today at Reserve Square in downtown Cleveland.

Of course, this is all in reaction to the giant mess created there this past week, when a move by the "19 Action News" newsroom prompted the city's most popular professional sports team to pull the pre-season rights to its games from Raycom Media CBS affiliate WOIO/19.

If the Raycom folks are near a computer during their time in the market - and we can't help but think they are, and would have laptops in tow - they may well land here.

If so, we invite them to feel free to punch in "WOIO" up at the top, in the OMW search bar, and read some of the antics the company's Cleveland stations have been up to in the past year or so.

If it were us, and we were drinkers, we'd get a drink, first...

When it comes to that mess a drink is not enough. In fact i donot think there is anything on this earth that could either dull the senses, make look better, or hide WOIO,WUAB, or 19 Action news's problems. If there was, then bottle it up and sell it because you will become a instant billionaire. This might be a good thing after all, sell WOIO/WUAB and buy WKBN/WYFX. CBS always wanted a TV station in town so here is their chance. With Toledo and Youngstown, they would not need Cleveland anymore unless they want it for fun. All that is left is to piss off the CAVS and they will have ruined or have upset everyone in town. From the browns to 2 former mayors, to the UCC (united christ of christ wanted the FCC to pull ch 43's licsene for not airing enough children's programs), to various employees in different city offices in Cleveland,to resturants, and of course the viewer. Is there anyone I am missing feel free to add.

What happens to the WOIO sub channel that is planned? Now with all of this, what happens next? I mean all they want at ch 19 is attention and all of these stunts do that and then some. I mean if someone who owned 2 top 20 market stations are going to be happy with all of this, then they have crazy. It seems that no one watches these newscasts, and they have let one of the better independents go straight to hell, yet they just stoop lower and lower. I think that it has been proven that this very fine blog is very popular at ch 19 and 43, just look at their actions after a post. I mean they do this for attention which gves them free advertising in which feeds the beast. If there is people who read this and they happen to be employees of ch 19/43, please consider the idea that most viewers donot really care for your news product and in the end all you do is make Cleveland look bad and maybe just try to do a newscast that is fair, balanced, not in your face and does not try to exploit others for a quick ratings boost. I do understand that you have a job to do, and most of you cannot directly control decisions from the top, but I think you have gone too far and you know it and that is why you still sink lower and lower. I know the higher ups are loving it, but still most people in NE Ohio can see right though this trash you call news and watch everyone else. For the raycom news stations that carry news you are not in their mainstream when it comes to content and style they all air, and I think many would rather have a staightfoward, to the point news instead of this tabloid/breaking news that you produce.

Dear Raycom execs:

Can Sharon Reed possibly get naked again? I haven't seen a credible news story with a good "T&A" angle in awhile.

Yours truly,
Bored TV News-Watcher

(At the very least, could someone ambush the new Mayor and ask him about his limo-driver or something?)

The latter of the 2 should happen by sweeps unless they can find some dirt on #23. I'm thinking November. The former I don't think so. BTW they have been keeping quite about no more browns yet the link home of the browns is still there. Is there some kissing of the behind going on here to keep the browns. It seems when higher ups come to town its big and what comes of it will be major. Stay tuned.

Don't cave in to WOIO's "legal pressure," Mr. Lerner! Remember, they called unbelievable added-attention to your sister's apparent negligence, which could easily result in criminal charges. Do you really want to do business with a group like that...EVER AGAIN?? 19 and 43 are two peas in a pod, run by the same incompetence.

Look for a network with the sterling reputation.

This is about My Network TV and their Ohio coverage. According to broadcastiong& cable, they claim that they been cleared so far in 94% of the U.S., including 97 of the top 100 markets. According to http://users4.ev1.net/~chipk/CW.html there is no station in Toledo (70) and Dayton (59). Do they have coverage there? I do think that it is odd that Youngstown has a station yet Dayton does not. I have also noticed that WSTR's repeater in Dayton is recieving a power upgrade http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?call=W66AQ . Could Sinclair be either starting a seperate Dayton feed my Network Tv or is it just they plan on using ch 64's feed for Dayton. If they do the latter, how will that work in compaired to syndex and the same two reruns for example airing on ch 64's repeater and a Dayton station? In Dayton the current UPN (MVC) station WHIO's sub channel will be airing The Greg Behrendt Show at 8PM. So if this stands MY Network TV will not be going there. As for Toledo, with the current UPN WNGT-LP, is having problems and I heard they donot want MY TV so where will it go?
