Waiting for the News

OMW is still waiting for what's expected to be a major piece of radio-related news out of Canton, as we reported on Friday. Expect to read more about it in the next day or so...

And in an entirely unrelated item, we're also getting rumors regarding new developments in an ongoing story we've been covering here on your Mighty Blog of Fun(tm). We understand that news should also be coming over the OMW transom in the next day or so...

please don't tell us mr. lerner caved in to those unprofessionals at 19/43. the browns need to escape now, then the cavs can drive the final nail in the local raycom casket when they move their games to FSN.

It is a curious decision, however, to take the Cavs off free-TV altogether. I won't ante up for that tier now or in the future, and I wonder how area folks living in a depressed economy will afford it, either.

Well, it could involve McConnell's syndication, or Mudd, or the ESPN Radio situation, or WBNX's HD signal, or Fox 8 changing, or something really old that hasn't come up in a month...

How do you figure its about fox 8 changing? News Corp is very happy with them, it makes them alot of money, and they are market 16. If its about fox 8 then it will either be three things
1) the launch of myfoxcleveland.com
2.)new graphics and or set
3.)offical anouncement of 9 am news/and or possible 11 pm news.
4.)Is sky fox hd up in the air yet?
As for WBNX it is rumored that they are starting a digital sub-chanel with the good REV. Could we see RTN (Retro Television Network) in cleveland in addition to the cw in HD? For that matter is WBNX for sale? Sell WBNX-TV and buy WOAC? Does WBNX add a 10'oclock news?
Could it be WOAC has a new owner? Is that owner Scripts Howard (they keep it and sell the other SAH stations) or telemundo, or does univision switch ch 61 for 67? For that matter does Fox buy ch 67. Does univision sell ch 61 and purshase a low power or just exit the market?
Does WVPX finally go digital or are they sold?
Does WOIO/WUAB finally gets a owner who cares about television broadcasting?
Does Ganett buy a second station like WBNX or WOAC and snag the browns and the indians for the station?
Does ESPN go to 1260 AM and 1540 carry a different sports network?
Does Salem sell some if not all of its Cleveland cluster?
My bet it has something to do with "As the WOIO World of hell turns" (browns are let out of their contract with ch 19) or ESPN's fall plans in Cleveland, or Mudd on WNCX.
It looks to be a very interresting 24 hours indeed.

The rumblings in Youngstown is WKBN/WYFX has had vistors in town in addition the to 2 stations that are having numerous problems with their on air prestation from blank screens to dead air to people looking into the wrong computer. A few souls have seen more and more activity on MY-YTV (WYTV-DT 36.2) outside of audio tests. TBN has asked for its Youngstown low power repeater to be on ch 32 (for digital) in addition to WNEO's digital repeater to be oh ch 44.

Not to be morbid or anything, but just how long had ol' Dorothy been crypt temperature.

Well, I guess we can assume that the Adelphia / TW acquisition is the "mystery story" we've been speculating about? I miss Dorothy, by the way. Wonder what she'd think of 19/43 (cough, gag) "news?"

Univision sells Channel 61 which will reclaim the original WKBF call letters. The station will consist of programs not seen or remembered on TV from the 1950's to 1970's. Saturdays will be renamed Ghoulday where every incarnation of The Ghoul show from WKBF, WCLQ, WBNX, WKBD, WXON and any other station he appeared on. This will be followed by an all new Ghoul show on Channel 61.

Other hosts coming out of retirement will be John Herrington, Super Host, Franz the Toymaker and Paige Palmer for new shows.

Yes...that's it....that is the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!!!!
