Unlike the last time we talked about looked like changes in the lineup at Rubber City Radio Akron market country powerhouse WQMX/94.9, this time, it appears to be for good.
OMW has confirmed that the new lineup for WQMX on the station's website is officially in place, as of this week.
The moves include several time slot shifts involving mainly existing WQMX staffers:
* Morning drive host Scott Wynn is joined on the "WQMX Country Club" by new co-host Shannon Alexander, who moves into mornings from her previous midday shift. Marcy Pappafava takes the news anchor position on the show, and Tina Kaufmann, at least for now, does traffic.
* After WQMX program director Kevin Mason's existing 9-11 AM show, it's Ike moving up the schedule from nights to take Alexander's now-former 11 AM-3 PM slot.
* The 7 PM-midnight opening is filled by J.R. Ewing, who moves up from overnights.
* Overnights are vacant, and the opening will be posted by Mason soon...

The quality of radio programming sinks another notch.
Pappafava doing news? Wow. I have heard more professionalism on high school stations.
Yes,it truly is, the beginning of the end.
Night shift goes from bad to worse. We'll be listening to WGAR in the evenings from now on.
I'd love it if MIX 94.9 would come back.
I am so glad to see someone else slamming Marcy Pappafava. I don't consider myself a mean-spirited person, but I literally had to stop listening to the WONE morning show because her verbal ticks and bizarre pronunciations were driving me absolutely crazy. Student radio all the way. Who the heck is responsible for keeping this abomination on the air?
I feel the same. I really hate slamming anyone on the air, but this individual is not even close to being ready for a small market, let alone a medium market like Akron. First time I heard her I was totally appalled that someone allowed her to go on the air.
Quick Mix 95 would be awesome for WQMX. Break the country curse.
10 in a row of a better mix!!
Sounds like a college radio station tonight. Who is JR?
I am enjoying the new sound in the morning with Scott and Shannon. I think things will work out for them. I just hope one or both stick around so us listeners can enjoy a stable morning show. I am not so sure I like listening to Marci do news...she is no Ed. She sounds like she is working on a 900 line...just talk Marci...talk in your normal voice. I have not heard Ike yet during the day but hope to soon..same for JR...give it time
From a long-time listener....
Why doesn't Ed Esposito do the news anymore? Whatever happened to Jim O'Brien in the morning on that station I have been living out of state for about a year now. Did they fire both of them?
Heck, we've had plenty of items since Tuesday, VODood. You might want to hit "refresh" on your browser.
But thanks for reminding us of the CC Lima shifts. We noticed that earlier in the week, but it somehow dropped out of the bottom of our "Hold" file...we'll put something up here in the next while or three.
