WJW News Director Heads to Dallas

We've been a bit delayed on posting this one, so bear with us...

OMW hears from numerous sources that long-time WJW/8 "FOX 8" news director Greg Easterly is leaving the FOX owned-and-operated outlet in Cleveland for a big job - news director of CBS-owned KTVT/11 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market.

But it's not just a big market jump that prompted the move. OMW hears that one reason for Easterly taking the job in Texas could be its proximity to his family.

We don't have any inside word on who might replace Easterly, who held the ND post for 10 years at WJW, though rumblings from within South Marginal Road say an internal promotion seems "unlikely"...

Good Luck Greg In The Big D,you did a great job at FOX and for family reason we can respect your decision to leave. I wish the promotion would be internal but as stated in OMW it probably won't happen,my fear is FOX8 WILL BECOME JUST LIKE FOX NATIONAL AND THAT TRULY IS A SAD THOUGHT. I suspect we'll see some subtle changes in the way the news will be presented and wonder if we'll be seeing some on-air changes within' the ranks.

Changes within the newscasts are imminent. If anyone looks at the new WJW website, one notices the new "FOX 8" and "FOX 8 NEWS" logo abound.

If the referenced "Fox National" was meant to be "Fox News Channel," then you would be right. The appearence of graphics on WJW's sister stations newscasts would clearly suggest it. Now in a political/content sense, well, damned if I knew. So I won't even attempt to guess...

Nathan I agree with you and the first posting at 2:47 it should be very interesting what happens at FOX8. Bill Martin you know has to be chomping at the bits, one it's been awhile since he said someone was a loon while reporting on a story. Two a few years ago in The Plain Dealer(non-Roger Brown article)The REPUBLICAN PARTY WAS COURTING BILL TO RUN AGAINST DENNIS KUCINICH. As for the crack about WILMA, very disrespectful, uncalled for the story has nothing to do with Wilma, who is a class act and gives back to the community with the many charities she's involved with.

Mike, I've deleted that comment.

It wasn't "over the top" as snarky anonymous comments go here, but I used the Management Perogative and deleted it. One reason - I didn't want this to derail into Yet Another Bitchy Anonymous Comments About Successful Local Personalities We Don't Like comment thread.

A reminder: the OMW comments section A) is not a message board and B) comments can and will be deleted at our discretion.

Why are you people so touchy about negative comments? This is the United States and we can have an opinion sheesh.

Yes this is the United States, but you don't own this site they do and they have the RIGHT to do as they please not as you want...
If you want to gripe and moan start your own site...

The post that was deleted was in very poor taste. OMW had every right to remove it - after all, if he didn't have any control over his site (or refused to control it) you'd have the Listening Party board.
